Youth Director Job Description
Youth Ministries
Job Position: Seeking an energetic, caring, creative Youth Ministry Director (non-ordained, full time or part time depending on the candidate’s availability) to organize and lead Immanuel’s junior and senior high youth program. The Youth Ministry Director shall seek to foster a caring Christian community and build our youth’s faith in the God whose love is embodied in Jesus Christ through worship, fellowship, study and service.
Reports to: Senior Pastor
Responsibilities
- Organize and lead youth activities to include:
- Fellowship activities
- Service opportunities (including mission trips)
- Spiritual growth (including small group faith discussions, Bible study, and annual Youth Sunday)
- Recruit and coordinate adult volunteers to support youth programs as mentors, chaperones, and leaders.
- Participate with volunteer teachers in leading the Jr. and Sr. High church school classes.
- Conduct on-going outreach to youth, encouraging youth participation and soliciting their input and feedback. Keep parents updated on youth activities and ministry strategies in a way that encourages partnership and involvement.
- Provide care and spiritual direction to youth on an individual basis. Support parents in effectively fulfilling their Christian parenting roles.
- Develop and oversee the youth ministry budgets; manage fees and permission forms for events and trips in a timely fashion; participate in staff and committee meetings.
- Participate in the local network of youth group leaders from other churches to coordinate activities as appropriate, receive encouragement, gain exposure to other teaching ideas, provide support to others and grow spiritually. Continue learning and seeking information to increase knowledge in the field of Youth Ministry.
- Seek to integrate youth ministry into all phases of church life to create a culture that is intentionally intergenerational, striving to unite with and complement other church ministries.
Qualifications
- Solid understanding of the foundations of the Christian faith and Presbyterian tradition, and a strong desire to nurture young people in the Christian faith
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to relate well with youth, seeking to build trusting and caring relationships
- Energetic and creative
- Prior experience and/or training in youth ministries or working with youth
- Minimum of a bachelor’s degree
- Strong organizational, communications, and leadership skills
- A commitment to active participation in worship and Sunday morning activities at Immanuel.

Salary and benefits will be competitive for the region and dependent on whether the position is full time or part time.
