Role of CS&A
The primary role of the Community Service and Action Committee is to encourage participation in and support of charitable organizations in our local community. Using funds allocated to CS&A from Immanuel's budget, along with the proceeds from our annual auction, the Committee disburses funds to a variety of local outreach organizations. We also organize collections of goods to provide needed supplies to such groups.
Activities
During the year, CS&A sponsors various activities at Immanuel:
Collections of food, clothing, toys, baby supplies & school supplies (SHARE, Chi Child Care Center, Alternative House, Training Futures, Shelter House)
Monthly food preparation/delivery (D.C. Central Kitchen, Children of Mine)
Food donation/delivery (Christ House, holiday dinners for families in Northern Virginia and D.C.)
Christmas "Tag Tree" (donation of gifts for children in Northern Virginia and D.C. )
Linens and Toiletries collection (Gospel Rescue Ministries, Fulton House, Alternative House)
Housing Projects (Rebuilding Together, Habitat of Northern Virginia)

How You Can Help
We encourage church members to become involved in outreach activities in our community, through this committee or independently. We welcome new ideas and opportunities to support local charities or service organizations.
Volunteer for a specific project or join our committee and attend monthly meetings to help direct our outreach efforts.
Please feel free to contact one of our chairs, Laurie Buchanan, Teri Bennett, or Sue Henry, for more information on how to become involved.
When We Meet and Who We Are
The Community Service and Action Committee meets on the first Wednesday of the month, September through May.
